Karin McGuire is the Vice President of Academics for Lighthouse Academies. In her current role, Karin works closely with Academic teams to maintain consistency in national educational standards for Lighthouse Academies’ network of schools. She, too, is integral in structuring educational policy, instructional planning, and oversight of academic affairs for the national Lighthouse Academies brand.
She has over 15 years of experience in public education. She became an educator to give children the opportunity to be agents of change in their communities. Prior to joining the Lighthouse team, Karin was the principal at an elementary school on the West Side of Chicago for five years for the LEARN Charter Network. During her time as a school leader, she was able to move her school from a low performing Level 3 rating to a high performing Level 1 rating! Throughout her years in education, she has served in various roles including primary teacher, middle school math teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal. She worked very closely with all her school communities and witnessed success with teacher and leader development, teacher retention, academic achievement scores, family partnerships, school wide positive behavior intervention support, and selective enrollment Chicago high school placement.
Karin holds both a Master of Education and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an Education Specialist Degree with a principal endorsement from National Louis University.
